All painting courses will take place outdoors, weather permitting, sketching and painting landscapes, villages and still lives. In light rain we will choose sheltered sites.

Day 2 Tone - Using charcoal and acrylics we will explore the drama of light and dark. We will also look at creating vibrant textures to enliven your work.
Day 3 Colour - We will look at how tone and colour can create an illusion of distance, and we will explore the potential of pastel.
Day 4 Watercolour - An introduction to the various techniques of watercolour.
Day 5 Composition - Putting into practice all the skills you have learnt through sketching using acrylics or watercolour
Day 6 How to enliven your work and the use of mixed media
All tuition will be based on the needs of individuals and groups and the outline below is a starting point only. Tuition and courses will remain flexible.
Water colour, Acrylic, Mixed media courses and general painting classes
These 6 day courses form an sound introduction to different media for beginners, and for improvers it is an opportunity to devote time to extending and improving your skills. We will work from the studio, and also paint directly from the countryside and villages. See below for a typical water-colour course timetable. The exact plan will be modified according to the group, time of the year, local events and weather, but this will give you an idea of the plan for the week.
